Production Process
PCB Fabrication Processes Details You Need to Know
Each step in the PCB fabrication process is crucial for ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of the final board. MV Circuit adapts these processes based on specific customer requirements and the complexity of the PCB design.
For multi-layer PCBs, inner layers are etched first and then stacked with insulating pre-preg layers. The stack is subjected to lamination under heat and pressure to bond the layers together into a solid board.
Holes are drilled for vias and through-hole components. The drilled holes and the board’s surface are then plated with copper through an electroless plating process to create electrical connections between layers.
A solder mask is applied to protect the copper traces from oxidation and prevent short circuits. Specific areas for component soldering are left exposed. The surface finish is applied to exposed copper pads, such as HASL or ENIG
AOI and flying probe testing are used to ensure there are no shorts, open circuits, or errors in the board layout. The boards are packed in anti-static materials to prevent electrostatic discharge during transport.
